Magic Core Sets are back!  This set’s spoilers have already begun and pre-releases are just around the corner.  With a release date of July 13, 2018 Core Set 2019 is going to have a huge impact on events over the summer.  Here is what Battlegrounds Gaming will be offering in the coming weeks!

PRE-RELEASES (July 7-8)

We have 4 events over the weekend of July 7 and July 8.  Each tournament costs $30 and includes 6 booster packs of Core Set 2019 and a special date-stamped foil promo rare or mythic.  The events run 4 rounds with the following prize payouts:

  • 4-0 get 10 booster packs
  • 3-0-1 get 7 booster packs
  • 3-1 get 4 booster packs
  • 2 wins gets 1 pack

RELEASE DAY DRAFT (July 13)

Core Set 2019 releases Friday, July 13 and Battlegrounds Gaming will celebrate with an FNM Booster Draft at 7pm.  Entry is $15 + tax and will run for 3 rounds.  All players with a 3-0 record will get 6 boosters of the new set and the FNM Promo Cast Down.  Player who finish 2-1 will get 2 booster packs.  In addition, extra FNM Promo cards will be distributed randomly during the draft.

DRAFT WEEKEND (July 14)

If the release day draft wasn’t enough for you, we’ll do it again.  Saturday at 2pm.
Entry is $15 plus tax with the same pack prizes as the release day draft (no FNM promos though).

ANNIVERSARY TOURNAMENT (July 21)

Battlegrounds Gaming is celebrating 7 years in business.  We host an annual multi-format tournament which lasts all day.  Deck building for the Core Set 2019 sealed portion starts at 11am and those decks will be played during rounds 1, 3, and 5.
Bring a MODERN legal deck too!  Those decks will be played during rounds 2, 4, and 6.
All players who finish the first 6 rounds in the top 8 of the standings will participate in a Iconic Masters booster draft.
Entry = $35
Prizes for this annual event:

  • 1st:  $100 store credit, Battlegrounds Gaming playmat, Trophy*
  • 2nd:  $50 store credit
  • 3rd-4th:  $25 each
  • 5th-8th:  $10 each

The trophy will be ordered with the winner’s name engraved on it.  It will be presented at a later date.

PRE-ORDERS

Pre-order booster boxes of Magic Core Set 2019 and pick them up during pre-release weekend!  Each box purchased will receive the foil Buy-A-Box Promo card of Nexus of Fate – not available in booster packs.
